Jaysh Al-Fateh Pushing Towards the Latakia Border

The conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates that make-up “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest) have made a number of advances over the last 48 hours in the Al-Ghaab Plains, recapturing a large swath of territory from the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division, the Tiger Forces, and the National Defense Forces (NDF).

On Thursday, the two largest factions in Jaysh Al-Fateh – Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – captured the strategically located towns of Zayzoun and Ziyadeh after fierce clashes with the Syrian Armed Forces.

In addition to their capture of Ziyadeh and Zayzoun, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra – in coordination with Ajnad Al-Sham and Jund Al-Aqsa – took full control of the Zayzoun Thermal Plant, forcing the 87th Brigade to withdraw to the south after the aforementioned Islamist forces pounded their positions.

Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra did not stop there: Jaysh Al-Fateh were able to take full control of the town of Qarqour, resulting in the withdrawal of all SAA and NDF soldiers from the Qarqour-Frikka axis.

According to military sources in the town of Sqaylabiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces and Jaysh Al-Fateh are engaged in violent clashes at Al-Bahsa, Al-Mansoura, and Tal Wassit, with neither party gaining any ground at this front in the Al-Ghaab Plains.
